Not all news is good news, but here is a story with a happy ending for you…

Last week broadcast news was filled with twins born on 2/22/22 and people turning 22 on that day. You could say two seems to be a lucky number for some people. The Ressler’s felt that day was special to them and decided to exchange vows with an intimate ceremony with their children and close family.

Nikki Ressler of Swain County said she and her new husband had been planning a wedding at the Myrtle Beach Aquarium in April and had even done a walkthrough of the location, but that life had other plans.

“We had our kids’ high school proms and other events in April that just kept adding up and we decided that there was just too much going on then, so we started exploring other options,” she said.

Nikki and Rob Ressler met through work and became friends but eventually went their separate ways, only to run into each other both living in Bryson City years later.

“Rob is such a great example to my kids and such a grounded person,” Nikki said.

Their first photo they took together was at the Needmore swinging bridge. Seems meant to be that is where they got married almost four years later.

“When we first started dating, we stopped there because we just thought it was so beautiful and I remember thinking how peaceful it was, so when we decided against the aquarium Rob said, why don’t we get married near home and that’s when we thought of the bridge. It has always been special to us,” Nikki said. “I wonder if anyone has ever gotten married at that bridge before?”

She said they decided on 2/22/22 because two was Rob’s favorite number and anytime the clock struck 2:22 he always said, “make a wish.”

“We were trying to decide on a time when we were speaking with our Reverend, and she said why not 2 pm? So that seemed perfect to us.”

The couple even had great weather, despite being nervous about the rain forecast.

“There was a 78% chance of rain about a week before and I was so worried but then it dropped to less than 20%. It had been cloudy that day, but the sun popped out just in time for the ceremony.”

The Ressler’s are sure to never forget their anniversary or that special day. We wish them all the best!
