Katherine Elizabeth Garrison, 69, of Bryson City, NC went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2016. Born May 11, 1947, she was the daughter of Rachael Curtice. 

She was preceeded in death by her son Chris Garrison on December 27, 2014. 

She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Garrison, Donna Garrison, and Theresa (John) Mayou, six grandkids, Brandon, Ryan, Tyler, Rachael, Haylee and Nathaniel, three great grandkids, Serenity, Bentley and Aubrey, five brothers and one sister. 

The family had a private ceremony.

Henrietta Irene Lambert, 58, of the Birdtown community went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 7, 2016. A native of Cherokee, she was the daughter of Patricia Sneed Lambert of Cherokee and the late Henry Ray Lambert.

Hannah Lynn B. Ogle, born July 22, 1961 completed her battle with cancer December 4, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, Asheville, NC. Hannah was preceded in death by her parental grandparents, Rev. Claude and Cora Lee Bridges and Floyd and Mildred Martin.

Hannah Lynn was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and member of the Alarka Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, daughter, and sister and was loved by all who knew her. Hannah was a native of Swain County, NC.

Doris Lakey Raby, 87, of Franklin, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016.

Born in Swain County, she was the daughter of the late John Wiley Lakey and Juanita Welch Lakey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy “Bill” Bryson Raby; two sons, Randy and Terry Raby and three sisters, Ruth Robbins, Lorene King and Katherine Nordling. Doris was a nurse, manager of Coin Laundry and worked in food service at Cowee Elementary School. She was a member of Cowee Baptist Church.

Stanley Louis Sieveking, 83, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, November 25, 2016. A native of Bronx, NY, and longtime resident of Bryson City, he was the son of the late Linus and Alma Erb Sieveking, and husband of the late Norma Elizabeth Roberts Sieveking.

Katherine Lakey Nordling, 79, of Weaverville, formerly of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday November 26, 2016 at her residence. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late John Wiley and Juanita Pearl Welch Lakey and wife of the late Dr. Robert Nordling. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters Ruth Robbins and Lorene King.

Katherine attended North Buncombe First Church of God.

John Daniel Larch, 64, of the Wolfetown community, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his residence. 

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Wrights Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Sherrill and Rev. Austin Frady officiated with military services conducted by the Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post #143.

 The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday at the church.

Vivian Ethel Greene, 75, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 21, 2016 at her residence. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Nathan D. and Lois Wiggins Greene. She was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Mason and her grandson, Logan Somers.

Larry Scott Cline Sr. entered his heavenly home on November 14, 2016 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his devoted wife Frances Buchanan Cline, daughter Jaime (Scott) Craig and son Larry Scott (Jessica) Cline Jr. He adored his grandchildren: Chelsea (Brian) Jones, Tristen Cheek, Hunter Craig, Zachary Cline, Owen Craig, Karena Cline and Taryn Craig. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara Squires and Sharlene Hedrick and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was a member of Bryson City Presbyterian Church where he attended services even when he was very ill. 

Jean Conley Heffner, age 97 of Bryson City, passed away peacefully at her home on November 16th.

Born in Andrews, NC, Mrs. Heffner was preceded in death by her parents, Wymer and Catherine Batten Conley, her brother, Hall Conley of Marietta, GA, and her husband, Jake Sherrell (Bob) Heffner.

A former teacher at Bryson City Elementary School, Mrs. Heffner was an active member of Bryson City Methodist Church.

James C. Gabriel died in his 84th year at home in Bryson City on November 13th. 

His family was at his bedside with him. 

He was a chemist and a retired executive in the phosphate industry and was much loved and admired by his family and friends. 

James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucile L. Gabriel; a son, James C. Gabriel, Jr. of Franklin, NC; two daughters, Elin E. Gabriel of Minneapolis, MN, and Cooper Gabriel-Habets (Andrew) of Rutherglen, Australia; granddaughter Mietta Gabriel Habets and grandson James Flynn McLay Habets. 

Glen Behringer, 89, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord Monday, November 14, 2016. A native of Illinois and longtime resident of Bryson City, NC he was the son of the late Glen and Grace Jungles Behringer. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister Audrey.

Glen was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served in World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Anita Behringer; four children; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time.

“Butch” Wilson Grover Bottorf, 73, of Whittier went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife Nancy Jane Foust Bottorf on Friday, November 11, 2016 at his residence. A native of Pennsylvania and Florida and longtime resident of Jackson County, NC, he was the son of the late George Van and Velma Rote Bottorf. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Julia Root; brother, Harold Bottorf; great grandson, Marvin Wilson Cochran; and several nieces and nephews; and many loved ones who have gone before.

Willa Mae Freeman Rogers, born on March 23rd, 1923 went to be with her Lord on November 5th, 2016.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2016 at Ivie Funeral Home, Hayesville. 

Eunice Gouge Gass, 82, of Whittier went home to be with the Lord. A longtime resident of Whittier, she was the daughter of the late Luman and Mae Cole Gouge and wife of the late Buddy Gass. A Christian woman, she was a faithful member of Whittier Baptist Church. She worked in Swain County and Cherokee most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dan and Willis Gouge.
