Ruby “Fay” Southards Cochran
Ruby “Fay” Southards Cochran, age 89 went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC.
She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Laura Breedlove Southards. She was a homemaker and loved making beautiful baskets and many other crafts.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee V. Cochran and a daughter, Wanda Cochran Cole. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Arnold and Aaron Southards and one sister, Birdell Southards.
She is survived by three sons, Varnol (Ann), and Raymond (Bonnie) Cochran of Bryson City and Mike (Cindy) Cochran of Franklin, NC. One sister, Christine Greene of Bryson City.
Also surviving are grandsons, Bart (Anna), Matthew (Alisha), Trevor (Amy), and Kyle Cochran, step grandchildren, Kevin (Mary) Parton, and Chris (Becky) Parton. Several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Freewill Baptist Church of which she was a member.
The family received friends Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Crisp Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Matthew, Kyle, and Trevor Cochran, Kevin and Chris Parton, Lenard Waldroup, Thomas Cloer, Gene Richmond, Austin Greene, and Johnny Southards.
Rev. Shane Silvers and Rev. Tony Oliver officiated. The Barker Family provided the music.
Burial was in the Brendle Hill Cemetery.
