Wayne C. McHan, 78, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed Saturday, March 25 at Harris Regional Hospital, Sylva.
A memorial service will be April 1, at 2 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Caney Branch Road, Bryson City.
The Reverend David Watkins will officiate.
McHan was born July 14, 1938 in Bryson City, NC to parents Ellis McHan and Parcie Brendle.
He was married to Gladys McHan (Lackey) of 53 years. They married July 11, 1964 in Wallahalla, SC.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, McHan was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Bryson City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Doris Lindsay (Doyle) of Winston-Salem, Hilda Somers (Wallace) of Beltsville, MD, Gilda Dukes (Lloyd) of Bryson City, and brothers J.T. and Stuart McHan of Bryson City.
Survivors include his wife Gladys; two sons, J. T. McHan (Jennifer) of Spokane, WA, Tim McHan (Jennifer) of Franklin, NC; Sisters Bobbie Jenkins (Charles) of Gloucester, VA, Betty Clontz (Dolan) of Grafton, VA, Anne Hedgebeth (Donnie) of Hampton, VA, Linda Huskey (Beecher) and Kay Moore of Bryson City: Three grandchildren Ashley, Alexis and Logan.
A very special thanks to his caregiver Kim Hall and husband Bob. Also thanks to Dr. David Franks and staff of Angel Medical Center, Macon County EMTs, Burningtown Iotla Fire Department, the wonderful staff of BlueRidge on the Mountain and Harris Regional Hospital.
