Gabe Crow was last seen on Jan. 27 in West Asheville and concerns continue to grow as his family has not heard from him.

On Friday morning, Feb. 16, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians issued a press release urging the public and law enforcement agencies in the region to be on alert for the missing tribal member.

“Our hearts are heavy as volunteers continue to search for Gabe, and we support his family during this incredibly difficult time,” said EBCI Principal Chief Michell Hicks in the press release. “We urge anyone with information about Gabe’s whereabouts to come forward and help bring him home safely.”

Family members gathered last Saturday in the Starnes Cove area of West Asheville to search for Crow, according to a report by WLOS, and have continued searches in the area.

Crow, 27, is known for his basket making, according to his Facebook page.

He is described as a Native American male standing 5’11” tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He has neck tattoos of a green claw and a skull and crossbones.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Lt. Welch with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office by calling (828)250-4503 or the Asheville Police Department by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or by calling (828)252-1110. Callers can also contact Cherokee Indian Police Investigator Wayne Dover at (828)497-4131.
