Devils indoor track teams compete in Winston Salem

This past Saturday, Swain’s indoor track teams traveled to Winston Salem to compete at JDL Fast Track at the COROS Invitational 2023. The Devils competed with around 70 teams from across the state.

 

Results

For the Lady Devils, Cora Watkins took 52nd in the girls 300m with 47.10, Sienna Hackshaw took 84th with 54.24, and for the 500m Amaya Hicks got 8th with 1:22.97, and Annie Lewis got 20th with 1:27.38.

In the girls 1000m Gracie Monteith was 7th with 3:26.11, Angelina Lomelli 12th with 3:35.52 and in the 1600m Lily Bjerkness was 13th with 6:25.58.

In the 4x200m relay Swain was 13th with runners Naomi Feagin, Isabella Walker, Kiersten Smith, and Cora Watkins with 1:58.52. In the 4x800m relay Swain was 1st with Amaya Hicks, Gracie Monteith, Lily Bjerkness, and Annie Lewis with 10:30.53.

For high jump, Gracie Sutton was  9th with 4-08.00 and for long jump Naomi Feagin was 23rd.

In the triple jump Isabella Walker was 20th and Kiersten Smith was 22nd. In Shot put Carley Teesateskie was 6th and Faith Woodard was 7th.

The Maroon Devils’ Abhi Patel was 13th in the boys 1000m with 2:56.55 and Connor Lambert was 16th with 2:58.37 and Kelan McCulough was 30th with 3:16.90.

In the 55m Austin Jenkins was 5th with 8.26 and in the 4x800m relay Swain was 6th with runners Abhi Patel, Carl Baird, Connor Lambert, and Kane Jones.

In pole vault Maroon Devil Matthew Gray was 1st with 15-06.00 and Kelan McCullough was 6th with 11-06.00. For long jump Kelan McCullough was 3rd with 20-10.50. In shot put Nse Uffort was 7th with 40-09.25.

Swain’s indoor track team’s next home meet is scheduled for after the new year on Wednesday, Jan. 11. (The team was supposed to have a home meet last week that was canceled due to weather.)
