The Lady Devils volleyball team took on the Robbinsville Black Knights on Tuesday for a home conference game. Both teams stayed neck and neck in the first 10 points of set one until the Lady Knights pushed ahead two points, but Swain tied the score back up at 12 points with an ace from Lady Devil Kaley Parker.

Another point for the Knights and then a block from Gracie Sutton and Kiersten Smith tying the game once more. The first set was a back-and-forth brawl between both teams, but Robbinsville eventually pushed ahead for the 25-17 win in set one.

In the second set, the Lady Devils were the “comeback kids” with back and forth points by each team, but Swain ultimately pushed ahead.

With the Knights leading 15-10 the Lady Devils got an excellent play with a spike from Gracie Sutton that was blocked by a Lady Knight and recovered by Kaley Parker for a spike by Rylee Rawls that was blocked again and recovered by Kiersten Smith passed to Gracie Sutton who pushed the ball over the net landing on the Knights line for a point for the Devils.

Swain continued to stay two to three points behind the Lady Knights until a spike from Kennedy Anthony put the Lady Devils within one point of Robbinsville. Swain came back, tying the game and holding the Knights at 25-22 for a Lady Devils win in the second set.

In the third, the Lady Devils started with the first point, followed by a questionable call from officials giving the Lady Knights a point after calling a ball near the line, in instead of out. Another questionable call in third when a down judge called a touch on the block on Swain giving Robbinsville the ball with a 10-6 score for the Knights. The set was not in favor of the Devils with several serving errors, ending with a 25-17 win for the Knights.

The final set ended with a 25-12 win for Robbinsville after Swain lost momentum resulting in a 3-1 loss of the game for the Lady Devils.

Following the game, Swain was ranked 2-3 in conference.

After weather related schedule changes, the Lady Devils played a match against Andrews at home on Wednesday instead of the regularly scheduled Thursday game.
