Lady Devils scar the Wildcats, Maroon Devils fall short

On Tuesday evening, Swain’s high school basketball teams traveled to Andrews for a matchup with the Wildcats. Both teams were coming off of hometown wins last week against Blue Ridge Early College.

The Lady Devils came out strong, jumping up 21 points in the first quarter to the Wildcats’ two points. Andrews gave them a fight in the 2nd quarter putting up 16 points to Swain’s 12, with the Lady Devils leading into halftime with 33-18.

After the half, Swain added 12 more points to the Wildcats’ nine and finished the second half with 13 more points. Andrews couldn’t come back as Swain won the game 58-33.

The Lady Devils are 3-1 over and 2-0 in conference.

The Maroon Devils fought it out with the Wildcats back and forth but ultimately lost their matchup by 11 points, 61-50 for an Andrews win.

Swain’s boys team is 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference.

Both teams faced Blue Ridge Early College again on Wednesday night in Bobcat territory and results will be available in next week’s paper. Swain will have a home game this Friday night against the Hayesville Yellow Jackets.

The Yellow Jackets varsity boys team is currently 3-1 overall and 3-0 in conference and the varsity girls team is 1-3 overall and 1-1 in conference.
